How are you feeling?
This is a throw away many of us use on a daily basis. And what is the answer we usually give? “FINE”
But are you really fine?
Do you suffer from any of these symptoms?
- aches and pains
- insomnia
- headaches
- brain fog
- irritability
- anxiety
- inability to concentrate
- digestive problems
- depression
Are you refusing social invitations? Having problems at work? Has this been going on for a while?
Perhaps what you are really suffering from is chronic stress. If you look it up or ask Dr. Google, you will see that the consequences of chronic stress can lead to major health problems such as high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, obesity, and diabetes. Chronic stress suppresses your immune system and makes it harder to recover from illness.
In the short term, stress is a normal part of life and sometime it can actually motivate you to make positive changes. But stress becomes harmful when it is overwhelming, long term, and you just can’t find a way to feel better.
Some people will try all kinds of things to self medicate and I’m not going to preach to you about that but I will offer you some alternatives that you can try.
- Yoga Yoga encourages you to relax both physically and mentally. Yoga helps to promote flexibility, relieve tension, reduce stress and anxiety, and teaches you to use your breath to calm your body and your thoughts.
- Tapping Tapping is an ancient Chinese practice which involves tapping on certain points of the body to help manage emotions, troubling thoughts, relieve pain, and restore balance to the body’s energies. Taping is very similar to acupuncture without the needles and where it takes years to master acupuncture, tapping is simple and painless. Anyone can learn how to do it, and you can not only help yourself, but also learn to do it for your loved ones too. Check out this link for more information.
- Energy Medicine Energy Medicine, popularized by Donna Eden (edenmethod.com) is another self help method used by many licensed health practitioners, but you can also learn to do it yourself. The techniques are easy to learn and use, only requiring a few minutes at a time. Using this technique, you activate your body’s energies so that the energy acts like medicine. At the same time, your energies are cleared, balanced, and strengthened and brought into a more healthy flow. This is another practice that you can use on yourself or others.
If you suffer from chronic stress, it’s worth your time to investigate these natural methods. Not only are they easy to learn, but you can use them anyplace and any time you need them to bring some natural stress relief to your body and mind. Here’s to a happier, pain free, healthier you!
