LEOMINSTER — Anita Perry, fondly known as Yoga Anita, is an author, educator, yogi, and blogger. She has enjoyed helping people for more than 46 years in the health and fitness field.

On her schedule for the new year will be “Chair Yoga for Pain and Stress Relief” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, at the Leominster Public Library, 30 West St.

In this class, participants will practice yoga, meditation, and self-healing with Chinese acupressure and energy medicine — all done while sitting in a chair.

The class will cover such alignments as aches and pains, insomnia, headaches, brain fog, irritability, anxiety, inability to concentrate, digestive problems, and depression.

“I wanted to design a class that is accessible for all ages and abilities but also offers all the healing benefits that comes from a yoga practice,” said Perry.

Perry who holds a master’s degree in education from Fitchburg State University and is an E-RYT500 registered with Yoga Alliance, provides yoga instruction and meditation in group, individual, corporate, and school settings.

She offers a lunch time class on Mondays at Dragonfly Wellness Center, located at 176 Jackson Road in Devens; Tuesdays and Thursdays at Fitchburg State University; and a monthly class to residents at Benchmark Senior Living Center.

Perry has been featured on local television and in many online articles about yoga and meditation.

She is the author of “Yogaminute” and “Yoga Wisdom-Reflections of a Practicing Yogi”. She is the host of “Healthy Living with Yoga Anita” on WLPZ 95.1FM.

Perry has been recognized nationally and internationally as a leader in her field. With a background as a classroom teacher and reading specialist, she differentiates her hatha yoga and meditation practice so that it can be accessible to all.

“For me, yoga has been beneficial to help me stay healthy physically, mentally, and spiritually,” said Perry. “I love to share that knowledge.”
